In 1987 Gibson Energy entered the retail propane business with the acquisition of James Propane, a small retailer based in Calgary, Alberta. Three years later Gibson purchased Canwest Propane and merged the two companies to begin operations as Canwest Propane.
Since those early days, Canwest has grown aggressively through a combination of unparalleled customer service, grass roots development and strategic acquisitions.
Our customer service focus has fostered growth through long-term relationships with existing customers and new customer growth through word of mouth. Grass roots expansion has led to new branch locations throughout Western Canada while acquisitions of other propane retailers have complemented this geographic growth.
This focused growth strategy has enabled Canwest Propane to become the second largest retailer in Canada serving our customers across Western Canada for almost 20 years.
